INTERNAL WORKS

Below is a small selection of listed building projects the Practice has undertaken to demonstrate the breath of our work.

Ham Green, Holt, Wiltshire

The grade II listed property had renovation works to the street elevation including replacement windows and the porch along with internal works for re-laying the flagstones, plastering and joinery repairs. These internal works were to rectify poor maintenance and repairs from previous owners bring the property more in keeping with its status. As listed building architects we prepared details and specifications to obtain Listed Building Consents and to enable the works to be carried out by specialist contractors.

School of Arts Annexe, Salisbury, Wiltshire

The School of Arts Annexe also known as The Hall is a Georgian building originally a dwelling built by William Hussey within a street containing several medieval buildings. The Grade I listed building has an elaborate symmetrical design of red brick on a stone plinth with a stone string course at first floor, stone architraves to all windows and a stone moulded and bracketed cornice. We were appointed initially to undertake a detailed feasibility study for a change of use from offices to educational use and upon completion of that study a listed building application was submitted for dual use and approval granted in 2012.

Caroline Buildings, Bath

The project consisted of a change of use from commercial to a dwelling resulting in extensive internal renovations from removing modern partitions allow plaster cornices and wainscoting to be reinstated, replacing roof lanterns along with window repairs and panelling joinery detailing. The objective in conserving the heritage assets was to create a sustainable family home enjoyed for the quality of life they bring to this and for future generations. Conserving historic assets through managed change enables continuing use of the listed building to benefits of heritage conservation.

Manor House, Sturminster Newton, Dorset

The property is 13th century medieval with 17th century additions such as the stone mullioned and transomed windows, panelling and moulded plaster ceiling resulting in a grade II* status. In 2020 we undertook a series of studies and investigations of the attic spaces to resolve water ingress and the repairs to structural timbers and plaster work. A listed building application was submitted to rectify the defects in the chimneys, the lead work and stone slated roof coverings along with detailed remedial internal works in order to preserve the historic fabric.
